So why am I sitting here listening to the election results when I really don't want to..... "just tell me when it is over".... I hate listening to a bunch of nutters talking about the results of the elections. Then I start creating a new blog..... sheesh, I could be weaving or spinning...... what am I doing?
I have spent the day working on a commission for a friend.... I am felting batts of alpaca fibre for a jacket that is to be a gift for a friend's wife. I was asked to make it a few weeks ago and it was going well until my felting needle broke and I had to stop and order new needles. So I am needle felting huge batts and then wet finishing them.... they are turning out very well so far. The jacket will be a tunic style jacket and then will be embellished with felted Grey Herons and reeds... I have given the figure of $100.00 for the jacket but I am feeling that this is way underpriced.... my friend is rather tight fisted and wants something special and since this is the first time he has bought his wife a gift in years, I feel I have to take pity on him and give it to him for much cheaper than it is worth. What do we do for friends.
I also worked on weaving on my Weavette, with some lovely fibre that I spun a few weeks ago. It is black alpaca and colourful mohair.... all the colours of the rainbow... blended on a drum carder. Lovely stuff... that! I am using it to make a little purse. I want a larger Weavette but it is difficult to find anything larger than the one that I have. I also have a little bookmark sized Weavette. I finished working on a bunch of bookmarks that I am making for the NPSW gild gift exchange and just have to put them into a cool booklet to make them look posh. My bookmarks are woven on a smaller Weavette with fibre that I spun from my Wolf/Husky cross dog..... They are lovely....
I should be reading to the kids.... we are reading in the evenings the second book from the Pellinor series by Alison Croggon.... excellent.... it is called The Riddle. Without a TV in the house we are avid readers.... all of us.
It is getting quiet as I have just asked the girls to turn off the radio and so the election discussers are now discussing in radio land without moi. Hubby has gone to feed the animals so that they can bed down with full stomachs.... will have to see about hay tomorrow as square bails suck and round bails rock... according to the alpacas and sheep.....
